Teaching

The above photo of me receiving the California Legislative Black Caucus's "Unsung Hero Award" was taken at the State Capitol in Sacramento, CA in May 2023. I wrote about it in a previous blog in detail but am happy to revisit it as a related event took place just a few weeks later.

Councilperson Chris R. Holden was to make the presentation but had been called away on business. Since he missed the event and truly wanted to be in attendance to present in person, he took steps to make that happen. He arranged an alternate date to come to Mount San Antonio College (Mt. Sac) in Walnut, CA. where I teach to make the presentation there.

Pictured below -  Councilperson Holden far left, 3rd from left Dr. William T. Scroggins, President of the college (retired), me and LaVonne.

Since my "retirement" from a studio environment, I've enjoyed instructing both young and seasoned artists to improve their drawing skills and pass along the knowledge and wisdom of my years in art. Over the past several years I was teaching at three different art programs. However, this year, due to a combination of seniority and enrollment issues, only one of my regular classes was a "go". I am into my 7th of 16 weeks of instruction this semester at Mount San Antonio College. It has been a welcome and needed break but I look forward to adding some more courses to my schedule in the future.

I am also a part of Jacob Jacobo's New Masters Academy online teaching faculty.

If you have the desire to sharpen your artistic skills, I invite you to investigate my instruction on how Quick Sketching can influence your illustration, animation and character design (link below).

Until next time...
